M.P. Marine - Terms and Conditions of Service
Last Updated: June 14, 2025
By requesting or engaging M.P. Marine for services, you (the "Client") agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions. These terms govern all services provided by M.P. Marine, including estimates, invoices, and any related interactions.
1. Service Rates & Charges
The following rates apply to all services rendered by M.P. Marine:
Standard Labor: $180 per hour.
Travel Time: $120 per hour. Travel time is calculated from our base of operations in Charlestown, MA to your vessel's location and back.
Shop Supplies: A charge, not exceeding 10% of the total labor cost, will be applied to cover essential consumables and incidentals. This percentage may vary based on the nature of the work and includes items such as wire, electrical connectors, sealants, adhesives, fasteners, tape, disposable safety materials, and other low-cost items not itemized as specific parts and materials.
Parking & Marina Fees: Any fees charged by marinas or facilities for outside contractors, parking, or access will be directly applied to your invoice or included in your estimate where applicable.
Minimum Service Charge: A minimum charge of two (2) hours of standard labor, plus applicable travel time, applies to all service calls.
Emergency Service Fee: An emergency service fee of $300 will be applied in addition to 1.5 times the standard labor rate. The two (2) hour minimum labor charge also applies to emergency services as requested.
2. Estimates, Invoicing, and Payment
Estimates: Estimates are provided based on our initial assessment and are for informational purposes. They are not a guarantee of the final cost. The final invoice will reflect actual time and materials expended.
Deposit Requirement: To secure your project and allow for material procurement, a deposit equal to 100% of the estimated material costs is required before work commences.
Transparency & Cost Overruns: We are committed to transparent communication. If unexpected material costs exceed $200 beyond the estimated amount, we will discuss and obtain your approval before purchase. This may necessitate an additional deposit.
Payment Terms: Payment for all services is due upon receipt of the invoice.
Scheduled Work: Upon receipt of required deposit payments, your project will be added to our service schedule.
Late Fees: To ensure timely service for all clients, a late fee of 10% of the outstanding balance will be applied to any payments not received within 15 days of the invoice due date. An additional 10% late fee will be applied every 30 days thereafter until the balance is paid in full.
Automatic Payment Authorization: For final invoices not paid within 15 days of the invoice date, the payment method provided at the time of service request will be automatically charged for the outstanding balance, unless payment is received through an alternative method by the customer prior to this deadline.
Adjustments: While we strive for accuracy, M.P. Marine reserves the right to make adjustments to the final cost in exceptional circumstances. Any such adjustments will be communicated and discussed with you beforehand.
3. Diagnostics & Troubleshooting
Scope: Troubleshooting and diagnostic services are performed to identify and pinpoint issues. While we endeavor to provide solutions, these services do not always guarantee a permanent fix or solution.
Further Action: Resolving the diagnosed issue may require additional parts and labor beyond the initial diagnostic service. Any such costs for a permanent solution will be communicated to the Client in the form of a separate estimate whenever possible.
4. Warranties & Insurance
Product Warranties: All product warranties are provided solely by the manufacturer. M.P. Marine will gladly assist you with warranty claims. In some cases, manufacturers may directly cover the cost of parts and labor for warranty replacements.
Service Warranty: M.P. Marine warrants its labor for a period of 90 days from the date of service, against defects in workmanship. This warranty does not cover issues arising from normal wear and tear, misuse, accidents, unauthorized modifications, or parts not supplied by M.P. Marine.
Insurance Coverage: M.P. Marine maintains marine general liability insurance with a single incident limit of $1,000,000 and an aggregate limit of $2,000,000 for your protection.
